Identify native trees and collect seeds to grow at home

Learn to identify and grow native trees to start your own woodland. This satisfying craft is easily learned and can be your way of leaving your mark on the future. Why not grow and plant a tree for the birth of a baby or other special event. All 26 native trees will be covered on the day with special notes on folklore and traditions of Celtic lore associated with trees.

Workshop from 10am - 4pm. Cost 40euro including an Organic Lunch

New Weekend Workshops at An tIonad Glas

An tIonad Glas, The Organic College in Dromcollogher, have been running very successful full-time Courses in Organic Horticulture and Sustainability since 1992. Recently there has been a lot of demand for shorter courses and workshops from people who cannot attend full-time.

In response to this demand the College are launching a series of “Weekend Workshops in Organic Gardening and Country Crafts”.

The one-day workshops which will be held at the College in Dromcollogher will kick off on Saturday October 22nd with “ Trees from Seed” – which will include a walk to identify trees (especially native broadleaves) and collect seed and the preparation of these for planting. Who knows, it could be the start of a new woodland!

Other planned workshops for Autumn/Winter and into Spring include Willow Weaving, Compost Making, Growing Organic Vegetables & Herbs and Woodcarving among others. All workshops will be practical and ‘hands-on’ and will include an organic lunch.

The College also offers special Tours and Workshops for Schools, Community Groups etc.
