    A friend brought this book back for me from a trip to USA back in the early ’80s. It started me thinking about the soil and the Earth in a completely different way and put me on the path to organic growing. While (at least my copy) it is intended for an American readership it’s relevence is universal. I would highly recommend it.

    Yes Tom, I think you’ll love its approach, sufficiently scientific and rigorous, but you might struggle with the moon planting bit, which may press your scientific rationalist buttons! I think for people grounded in permaculture it is great, as it challenges the idea that we need to plant in random clumps of edible things… I think yield is vital, and maximising it, and this book is a steep learning curve for those dedicated to doing that…. Glad you found the review useful.
