National Heritage Week 2012 will run from the 18th to the 26th of August. With over 1300 events taking place all around Ireland there’s lots to do and see during National Heritage Week.
Events hosted nationwide are often quirky, almost always family friendly and fun, sometimes serious and definitely diverse. Many are organised by local communities lending great authenticity and variety to the events. Admission is free.
There are two of these events taking part in West Limerick:
Picnic In A Ringfort: A Millennium Of Farm Heritage
Sunday, August 26th from 6.00pm – 8.30pm
Con’s farm community, powered by the winds, is home to several old Irish breeds of cattle where farm improvements place biodiversity within it’s appropriate context and offers a template for sustainable agriculture. Con’s Cremin’s farm is located 1km from Kilcolman Church, 6 miles from Newcastle West off the N.C.W-Foynes Road.

Con Cremin’s ORganic Farm and G.M. Free Zone, Ballyegny, Kilcolman, Ardagh. Teddy Cook & Peter Beaumont will jointly welcome and host this event with Con Cremin.

2012 marks our 12th successive Heritage Week at Broadford’s uniquely restored Medieval Limestone Quarry, managed and maintained as a dedicated ‘biodiversity space’ offering introductory Environmental Life Skills by Teddy Cook and Peter Beaumont.
